Chastleton House (4 miles)

A hidden gem of a house, Chastleton is entirely Jacobean construction, undisturbed by “improvements” for over 400 years. The regularly scheduled tours are well worth taking, as is a walk round the garden where the rules of croquet were first codified in 1865.

Blenheim Palace (15 miles)

The birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill and the seat of the Duke of Marlborough, Blenheim is one of the great stately homes of England. In addition to the wonders of the house, be sure to visit the vast Capability Brown grounds and Churchill’s grave in a nearby churchyard.

Hidcote Manor Garden (20 miles)

One of the finest gardens in a country known for its gardens, Hidcote is the supreme example of an Arts & Crafts garden, dived into separate outdoor “rooms,” each with its own character. Enjoy the spectacular views from the edge of the garden (you may spot Broadway Tower on a clear day) and the innumerable delights of this glorious garden.
